Full job description

Job Title: Money Buddy

Responsible to: Money Buddy Supervisor

Salary: SCP 12 £ 26,555

Annual leave: 29 days per year and 8 Public/Bank holidays pro-rata,

3 fixed closed holidays

Hours: 32.5 hrs per week (Monday – Friday between 9am – 4pm)

Exciting opportunities have arisen to join the existing Burmantofts Community Project Team based at the Money Advice Centre in Burmantofts in Leeds.

Purpose of the role

As a Money Buddy, you will play a key role in helping clients maximise their income, including identifying potential welfare benefit entitlements. You’ll provide tailored support through BCP’s financial capability services, helping individuals improve their money management and energy efficiency. You’ll also support the induction of new Money Buddies through on-the-job training, and work collaboratively to ensure the service runs smoothly and continues to meet high standards.

Duties of the Money Buddy:

· Deliver client focussed Money Buddy services direct to clients at various outreach sites, as well as remotely via referral and telephone/digital access.

· Assisting clients with financial capability guidance, such as budgeting, cost cutting, energy efficiency guidance and utility switching.

· Use appropriate resources to identify welfare benefit entitlement.

· Support clients with completing Grant/Trust applications and relevant forms (form filling).

· Referring and sign posting clients to other sources of support for areas outside of the Money Buddy remit of financial capability and guidance.

· Liaising with third party stakeholders and funders to promote the Money Buddy Service and ensure that they understand the work we do and the positive impacts it has on their service users.

· Assist in providing technical support to new Money Buddies during their inductions.

· Encourage good teamwork and lines of communication between all members of staff

· Keep up to date with legislation, policies and procedures and attend appropriate training as identified in your Personal Development Plan

· Attend relevant internal and external meetings as agreed with the Money Buddy Team Leader

· Assist in initiatives to improve the services of BCP, especially around the development of the Money Buddy service.

· Contribute to the funders reporting requirements as and when required including providing case studies.

· Use our case management system (AdvicePro) and other IT for statistical recording, record keeping and document production, taking direct responsibility for reporting of the success of the money buddy session delivered.

· Carry out any other tasks that may be within the scope of the post to ensure the effective delivery and development of the service.

· Uphold the aims and principles of BCP’s Service and its equal opportunities policies.

· Abide by health and safety guidelines and share responsibility for own safety and that of colleagues.

· Maintain close liaison with relevant external agencies where Money Buddy services are delivered, and represent the service as appropriate.
