Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and personable Shop Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, supporting daily shop operations, and ensuring a welcoming environment for all visitors. The ideal candidate will be organised, proactive, and possess a keen eye for detail. Previous experience in administrative tasks or IT support is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills within a dynamic retail environment.

Responsibilities

Greeting customers warmly and assisting with their enquiries in a professional manner
Managing sales transactions accurately using the shop’s point-of-sale system
Restocking shelves and ensuring the shop floor remains tidy and inviting
Handling administrative duties such as maintaining stock records and processing deliveries
Supporting inventory management by conducting regular stock checks and organising stockroom areas
Providing basic IT support when required, including troubleshooting minor technical issues
Assisting with organising promotional displays and seasonal decorations
Maintaining cleanliness of the shop area to ensure health and safety standards are met
Responding promptly to customer feedback and resolving any issues efficiently

Experience

Previous experience in customer service or retail is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for all new staff
Familiarity with basic IT systems or administrative tasks is desirable but not essential
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
A friendly demeanour with a proactive approach to problem-solving
Ability to work as part of a team and independently when required
