Full job description

Role: Junior Sous Chef

Salary: £35,000 p/a + tip share

Location: Chilton Foliat, Wiltshire. (Accommodation available)

Join The Wheatsheaf at an exciting stage of its journey following the successful expansion of the business, including the addition of eight guest bedrooms and a stunning orangery. You'll be part of a passionate team committed to exceptional food, outstanding hospitality and creating memorable experiences for our guests, while continuing to develop your skills and progress your culinary career.

Whats the role?

Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in delivering consistently high standards of food quality, presentation and service.
Assist in leading the kitchen team during busy service periods and take responsibility for sections of the kitchen.
Support the planning and delivery of seasonal menus, daily specials and new dishes.
Ensure all food is prepared and presented to the highest standards before leaving the pass.
Maintain appropriate stock levels and food preparation in line with business requirements.
Help manage stock rotation, ordering, portion control and waste management.
Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene and health & safety procedures.
Support the training, coaching and development of Commis Chefs and junior kitchen team members.
Work collaboratively with front-of-house teams to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Contribute to a positive, professional and supportive kitchen culture.

About You

We're looking for someone who is passionate about food and eager to build a successful career within the hospitality industry.

You'll ideally have:

Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef within a quality gastro pub, fresh food restaurant or hospitality environment.
Strong experience working with fresh, seasonal ingredients and producing high-quality dishes.
Good understanding of cooking methods, kitchen equipment and food preparation techniques.
Sound knowledge of food hygiene, allergen management and health & safety requirements.
Experience supporting and developing junior team members.
Ability to maintain high standards whilst working efficiently during busy service periods.
Familiarity with industry best practices and kitchen operations.
