Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality food services. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about food, catering, and kitchen operations, with a keen eye for food safety and hygiene. The successful candidate will play a vital part in meal preparation and ensuring the smooth running of daily kitchen activities. This paid position offers valuable experience within a professional culinary environment.

Duties

Assist with meal preparation and food assembly in accordance with established recipes and standards
Support catering functions by preparing ingredients and setting up serving areas
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing utensils, equipment, and work surfaces
Help with food safety procedures, including proper storage and handling of ingredients
Assist with serving meals to residents as required
Restock supplies and ensure all kitchen tools are in good condition
Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment at all times

Skills

Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is desirable but not essential
Basic understanding of food preparation and meal assembly techniques
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Ability to work efficiently under supervision in a fast-paced environment
Good organisational skills with attention to detail
Willingness to learn new skills related to culinary arts and kitchen operations
Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues
