Automotive Technician – Shift (Mechanical & Engine Testing)

Location: Hazelwood, Derbyshire (DE56 4AN)
Job Type: Full-time | On-site
Shift + Hours: 4 days on / 4 days off rotating shift (2 day shifts followed by 2 night shifts, 12-hour shifts, approx. 6am–6pm / 6pm–6am)
Salary Range: Competitive salary + shift allowance + comprehensive benefits package

How You’ll Make an Impact

As an Automotive Technician at our state-of-the-art Mechanical and Engine Testing Facility in Hazelwood, you will play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality, and cost-effective testing that supports the development and validation of advanced fuel and lubricant additive technologies for the automotive industry.

Conduct and monitor fired engine, driveline, and industrial tests in line with defined procedures
Operate test control systems to monitor data and adjust operating parameters as required
Build, install, de-rig, and strip engines, gearboxes, axles, and other mechanical test components
Initiate and support repairs to test installations to ensure continuous operation
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support implementation of enhancements
Promote and comply with all Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) policies and procedures

Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success

NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification (or equivalent) with proven relevant experience
Proven hands-on experience with automotive fault-finding techniques
Experience with engine strip-down, repair, or rebuild activities
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
PC literacy, including use of standard office and data systems
Flexibility and willingness to work rotating day and night shifts in a 24/7 operation

Preferred Qualifications that Drive You Forward

Previous experience working in an engine test cell, mechanical testing, or laboratory environment
Prior experience in a shift-based operational role
