Freelance Creative - Maker

Join the Plant Designs Creative Team!

We're looking for talented freelance makers, florists, set dressers, prop makers and creative hands-on individuals to join our growing team.

Our workshop and studio space is based in Milton Keynes, where we create stunning seasonal displays, immersive environments and bespoke installations for commercial spaces and corporate clients. We're building a network of skilled freelance creatives who can help bring our concepts to life.

About the Role

As a Freelance Creative Maker, you'll be responsible for producing high-quality decorative elements, props, preserved, replica and live floral arrangements, and display components from supplied plans, briefs and instructions.

Working mostly from established designs, you'll help create and assemble displays for commercial and corporate environments, ensuring every detail is produced to the highest standard. This is a hands-on making role that requires precision, efficiency and pride in your workmanship.

We're looking for practical, creative individuals who enjoy making, crafting and building, and who can accurately translate ideas from paper to reality.

What You'll Be Doing

Creating and assembling preserved, replica and live floral displays, decorative installations, props and seasonal décor.
Refurbishing, repairing and maintaining decorative props and display elements.
Working from visual references, drawings and production instructions.
Following established designs and specifications accurately.
Producing work to a consistently high standard of quality and finish.
Working efficiently to meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The Work

The majority of our work involves producing preserved displays, decorative elements for events, and seasonal installations, including large volumes of Christmas décor and replica garlands.

Alongside our core production work, there are opportunities to work on more bespoke projects, including floral installations, statement display pieces and larger-scale seasonal displays for commercial and corporate environments.

Work is project-based and varies throughout the year, with particularly busy periods during our seasonal production peaks. For the right freelancers, we can often offer consistent block bookings during these periods, making it an ideal opportunity for those looking for regular freelance work.

Skills & Experience

You should:

Have a practical, hands-on approach to making.
Be able to follow instructions and work accurately from drawings, plans or visual references.
Have excellent attention to detail and a high standard of craftsmanship.
Be reliable, hardworking and able to work efficiently to deadlines.
Take pride in producing quality work as part of a team.

Bonus Skills

Ability to read floor plans, technical drawings or installation layouts.
Experience in floristry, prop making, set dressing, visual merchandising or fabrication.
Experience working in workshops, events, theatre, retail displays or commercial installations.
