Job Summary
The Key Account Manager is responsible for the effective day-to-day commercial management of a portfolio of key customer accounts, ensuring consistent service delivery and strong operational relationships. The role focuses on executing established account plans, delivering against revenue, margin, and retention targets, and supporting the identification and progression of growth opportunities.
Working within defined commercial frameworks, the Key Account Manager coordinates closely with internal teams to ensure seamless order delivery, maintains accurate forecasting and CRM data, and provides responsive support to customer needs. Acting as a key operational contact, the role also supports the Strategic Account Manager by aligning day-to-day activity with broader account strategy and escalating risks or opportunities where appropriate.
Responsibilities
– Execute the day-to-day commercial management of an assigned portfolio of key accounts, delivering responsive service and maintaining continuity across the customer lifecycle in line with account plans set by the Strategic Account Manager and Commercial Lead.
– Deliver against agreed revenue, gross margin, and retention targets for the assigned portfolio, operating strictly within established pricing models, commercial parameters, and contractual frameworks.
– Build and maintain effective working relationships with operational and mid-level stakeholders across procurement, engineering, quality, and programme teams, supporting broader relationship development led by the Strategic Account Manager where required.
– Identify and support the progression of in-account growth opportunities, contributing pipeline activity and customer insight aligned to account strategies defined by the Strategic Account Manager.
– Prepare and submit quotations using approved pricing models and templates, escalating any non-standard pricing, contractual terms, or commercial risks for review and approval.
– Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records, including pipeline activity, customer contacts, meeting notes, and forecast data, ensuring high standards of data quality and governance.
– Provide reliable short- to medium-term (3–12 month) revenue forecasts for the assigned accounts, supporting operational planning and scheduling.
– Coordinate the internal handover and ongoing delivery of customer orders, working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Inspection, and Purchasing teams to ensure accurate execution of customer requirements.
– Respond promptly to customer queries, including commercial and technical clarifications, resolving issues where possible and escalating more complex risks or challenges to the appropriate internal teams or the Strategic Account Manager.
– Support the delivery of regular account review meetings by providing performance data, operational updates, and customer feedback, ensuring actions are tracked and followed up.
– Gather and share account-level market intelligence, including customer activity, competitor presence, and programme updates, contributing insight to inform wider commercial strategy.
– Provide structured operational and commercial support to the Strategic Account Manager across shared accounts, ensuring alignment between account strategy and day-to-day execution.
– Adhere consistently to 3T’s commercial governance standards, including CRM discipline, quote approval processes, and defined escalation routes.
