Operations Manager (Office Based)

As our Operations Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring our office operations run smoothly, leading our sales administration team and driving efficient, customer-focused processes across the business.

The Role

This is a fully office-based position where you'll oversee the day-to-day operations of our sales administration function, ensuring customer orders progress smoothly from enquiry through to delivery. You'll work closely with customers, suppliers, internal departments and senior management to coordinate activities, improve operational efficiency and maintain the exceptional service standards we're known for.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, coach and support a team of two Sales Administrators, creating a positive, collaborative and high-performing working environment.
Manage the sales enquiry inbox, prioritising and allocating work to ensure an efficient workflow and excellent customer response times.
Oversee the accurate processing of customer orders, ensuring they are delivered on time and to the highest standards.
Build strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, internal departments and key accounts, maintaining clear and proactive communication throughout the order process.
Monitor day-to-day office operations, identifying opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency and enhance the customer experience.
Anticipate operational challenges and work collaboratively with colleagues to implement practical, effective solutions.
Handle customer enquiries and resolve issues with professionalism, empathy and a solution-focused approach.
Develop strong relationships with material suppliers and external partners to maximise service levels and business opportunities.
Prepare operational and financial reports, providing meaningful information and insights to the senior management team.
Manage internal ISO quality audits, ensuring compliance while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys leading people, improving processes and building strong working relationships.

You'll ideally have:

Previous experience in an Operations Manager, Office Manager or similar operational leadership role within an office-based environment. Experience within manufacturing or a customer-focused business would be advantageous but is not essential.
Alternatively, experience supervising a busy sales administration or customer service team and the ambition to step into an Operations Manager position.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
A collaborative and supportive leadership style that motivates, develops and empowers others.
A genuine passion for delivering exceptional customer service and continuously improving the customer journey.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work effectively with customers, suppliers and colleagues at all levels.
Experience using Sage, SAP or similar business management systems.
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
