Senior Support Worker - Super Young Minds

Hourly Rate: £13.80–£15.00 Sleep-in Rate: £60 per night

Super Young Minds is offering a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team and help transform young lives in a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment working in our 1 bedded Children's Home in Northfleet Kent.

Our Mission: At Super Young Minds, we strive to create a home where children can grow, heal, and thrive. Our team is dedicated to providing round-the-clock care, educational support, emotional guidance, and creative opportunities to empower children and young people who have faced difficult circumstances.

What We Do:

Residential Care: We offer a safe, warm, and supportive home, complete with therapeutic support, comfortable accommodation, and nutritious meals.
Education and Skill Development: We help children excel academically and develop essential life skills, fostering confidence and independence.
Emotional Support and Counselling: We provide individual and group counseling to help children heal from trauma and build resilience.
Recreational and Creative Activities: We offer enriching activities like sports, art, music, and outdoor adventures to nurture self-expression and teamwork.
Community Engagement: We build strong partnerships within the community to enhance our children’s well-being and reintegration into society.

Key Responsibilities:

Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of shifts within the home and ensure safe, child-centred care practices.
Support the deputy manager and home manager in operational and care management.
Provide direct care and safeguard children and young people, ensuring their well-being and social development.
Maintain positive childcare practices aligned with the aims of the home.
Oversee the implementation and monitoring of care plans to achieve positive outcomes.
Build and maintain trusting relationships with children, families, external professionals, and staff.
Assist with the planning and organisation of the home’s activities and routines.
Maintain accurate records, including case files, daily logs, and incident forms.
Deliver high standards of supervision to staff and delegate tasks effectively.
Promote cleanliness, health, and safety within the home.
Participate in training, team meetings, and ongoing professional development.
Undertake sleep-in and shift duties as part of the care structure.
Physically intervene, if necessary, in accordance with procedural guidelines to ensure the safety of all individuals.

Additional Requirements:

Be available for on-call duties as part of a rota.
Handle administrative tasks, including responding to telephone inquiries and preparing reports.
Foster positive relationships between children and their families, where appropriate.
Demonstrate sensitivity and appropriate assertiveness in challenging situations.

Qualifications

Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children and families
Proven experience working with children in a residential support setting
Ability to develop and implement care plans tailored to individual needs
Valid driving license to facilitate transportation as needed
Background in childcare and related fields
Proficient in IT to maintain documentation and communication systems
