Full job description

BTTG is seeking a highly organised and professional Customer Services Administrator to join our team at our Leeds office. This office-based role provides administrative and customer service support to a department responsible for the routine testing of carpets and other related products.

With over 100 years of experience in textiles and related products, BTTG and Shirley are leading independent organisations specialising in testing, certification, auditing, advisory, and training services. BTTG specialises in the testing, certification, and auditing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Construction Products, while Shirley offers a wide range of testing and certification services through the OEKO-TEX® Association, alongside analytical, investigative, and expert witness services.

Reporting to the Department Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting day-to-day operations, ensuring excellent customer service and efficient administration within a busy testing environment.

Responsibilities

Handle incoming telephone calls from clients professionally, transferring calls and forwarding messages as appropriate
Manage incoming and outgoing post and courier deliveries
Receive and process deliveries to the department
Prepare and dispatch samples for external testing
Book in customer jobs and prepare associated documentation and paperwork
Raise and process purchase orders as required
Type reports and scan job documentation for transfer to other departments
Welcome visitors and contractors, prepare meeting rooms, and provide hosting support
Maintain accurate records and filing systems
Provide general administrative support and undertake ad hoc tasks as required
Liaise with clients and internal teams to ensure smooth communication and workflow

Requirements

GCSEs (or equivalent) including Mathematics and English
A minimum of two years' experience in a customer service or administrative role
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
Good attention to detail and a meticulous approach to work
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel
Strong computer literacy and confidence in learning new systems and processes
Ability to deal directly with clients in a professional, efficient, and helpful manner
Ability to work independently, use initiative, and contribute effectively within a team environment
Capable of undertaking manual handling duties involving carpet rolls and boxes of tiles within safe working limits

Additional Information

Please note that this is a fully office-based position located in Leeds. Homeworking or hybrid working arrangements are not available for this role.

Pay: Up to £26,000.00 per year
