Full job description

Residential Children’s Support Worker

Location: Westcliff-on-Sea
Salary: £26,867 to £29,106, depending on experience and qualifications
Hours: Full-time 40 hours per week

Shift patterns include:

· Early shift: 07.00 to 16.00

· Late shift: 15.00 to 22.30

· Long day: 07.00 to 22.30

· Sleep-ins and night shifts: 22.00 to 07.30

You’ll need to be flexible, as start and finish times may vary to meet the needs of the children in our care.

Help Create a Safe, Caring Home for Children

We are looking for kind, dependable, and emotionally resilient Residential Children’s Support Workers to join our warm, trauma-informed children’s home. Every day, we aim to create a place where children feel safe, cared for, listened to, and truly at home — especially those who may have experienced difficult beginnings.

How You’ll Support Children Every Day

· Build trusting, positive relationships with children through consistency, kindness, and respect

· Support children with daily routines, education, activities, and emotional wellbeing

· Use trauma-informed approaches to help children feel safe, understood, and reassured

· Help create a warm, homely environment where children can grow in confidence and flourish

· Contribute to care plans, risk assessments, and accurate record-keeping that supports each child’s needs

· Work closely with colleagues, families, and professionals to provide joined-up care and support

· Be a positive role model who recognises and celebrates each child’s strengths, progress, and potential

Who We’re Looking For

· A genuine care for children and a desire to help them feel safe and supported

· Emotional resilience and the ability to stay calm, patient, and thoughtful in challenging moments

· Strong communication skills and a reflective, supportive approach to teamwork

· A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare

· Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, sleep-ins and nights

· Experience in residential childcare is welcome but not essential — full training and support will be provided
