About the Role

We are looking for friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Shop Assistants to join our team as we open our brand-new convenience store. You will play an important role in providing excellent customer service, maintaining high store standards, and ensuring customers enjoy a clean, well-stocked, and welcoming shopping environment.

Key Responsibilities

Welcome and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Operate the till accurately and process cash, card, and contactless payments.
Replenish shelves and ensure products are well presented.
Monitor stock levels and report low stock or damaged items.
Check deliveries and assist with stocking new products.
Rotate stock and check expiry dates to ensure product quality.
Keep the shop clean, tidy, and safe at all times.
Follow food hygiene, health and safety, and company procedures.
Assist with opening and closing the store when required.
Help prevent theft by following security procedures and reporting suspicious activity.
Support colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment.

Skills and ExperienceEssential

Friendly and approachable with excellent customer service skills.
Honest, dependable, and punctual.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work well as part of a team.
Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Desirable

Previous retail or convenience store experience.
Cash handling and till operation experience.
Food handling or retail experience.
Basic knowledge of stock control.
