We are a well-established independent optical practice that has been serving the local community of Shrewsbury since the 1970's. Our clinical expertise combined with the latest optometric equipment and the most advanced lens technology available enables us to provide premium quality eyewear.

Job description

Martin Haynes Eyecare is growing its Optical Team and is offering a part time position for an Optical Assistant. The role will require 2 weekdays per week with flexibility for cover on any day. General duties will include, but not limited to, reception cover (call handling, appointment scheduling, cash handling, liaising with customer and optician) along with optical related tasks, which includes eyewear and contact lenses. Previous optical experience is preferable but not compulsory. Training will also be provided, but a willingness to learn and apply yourself to the role is essential.

Previous sales experience is a plus.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a flair for eyewear and fashion trends, who enjoys meeting people, pays attention to detail and is process driven.

Key Skills:

First class customer service
Ability to work independently as well as within a team
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Excellent keyboarding and IT skills (Microsoft Suite, Data Entry etc)
Experienced multitasker
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
A friendly & positive approach

This role requires you to have good dexterity, ability to work with small parts - attaching and mending, and will be good for someone who enjoys working with their hands.
