Halo Arts are a not-for-profit, community focused production company with a remit of delivering a range of high quality and inclusive projects, productions and events with communities across Glasgow, Lanarkshire and beyond

Our team is comprised of passionate, community focused individuals who share a commitment to harnessing the arts as a tool for social impact. Our ultimate aim is to make the arts accessible to all.

We are also the team behind WestFest- Glasgow's biggest community-led cultural festival, bringing together over 300 events across 60+ venues and attracting more than 100k people every June.

We also deliver a range of events throughout the year with housing associations,community groups, universities and other partners.

The Role

On any given event day, you are the highest point of authority on site, reporting into the Director of Events. You are essentially in charge on the day: making decisions, keeping things moving and ensuring everything runs safely and to a high standard, from load-in to load-out. The majority of our events are outdoors on streets and green spaces.

We are looking for people with genuine, all-round events management experience — not just organising or planning. You should be proficient in every aspect of event delivery: health and safety, staff management, supplier coordination, crowd management and on-site problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

Act as senior authority on site from load-in to close, maintaining communication with the Director of Events and where appropriate- clients and/or partners throughout.
Manage all suppliers, contractors and technical crew on site; oversee load-in, build, operation and breakdown.
Brief, deploy and manage all staff and volunteers, keeping the team coordinated and informed.
Coordinate all on-site programme elements: entertainment, stages, performers, stalls, traders and community activities.
Take responsibility for health and safety on site, including pre-event checks and management of first aid, security and stewarding.
Handle escalations, complaints and problems as they arise; know when to escalate and do so promptly.

EXPERIENCE

Proven all-round events management experience — not just organising or planning (Essential)
Experience managing large-scale outdoor events with significant public attendance (Essential)
Experience in the arts, culture or festival sector (Essential)
Experience managing event-day staff, volunteers, suppliers and contractors on site (Essential)
Experience with crowd management and health & safety at public events (Essential)
Experience of, and genuine interest in, community events (Essential)

SKILLS AND QUALITIES

Sound decision-making under pressure; unflappable when things go wrong (Essential)
Clear communicator, able to coordinate a dispersed team by radio (Essential)
Practical, can-do approach — rolls sleeves up and gets on with it (Essential)
IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent H&S qualification (Desirable)
First Aid at Work certificate (Desirable)
Driving licence and access to a vehicle (Desirable)

Pay: £225.00-£300.00 per day
