Service Manager – Homelessness Service

Salary: £34,505 per annum
Hours: 37.5hrs per week
Contract: Permanent
Location: Shepton Mallet

Role Summary:

An established charity is looking for an experienced Service Manager to lead homelessness and supported housing services in Shepton Mallet. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated leader to oversee high-quality, person-centred services that support people experiencing homelessness and social exclusion to achieve greater independence and stability.

You'll provide operational leadership to a dedicated team, ensuring services are delivered to a high standard while meeting contractual requirements, safeguarding responsibilities, and organisational objectives. Working closely with commissioners and partner agencies, you'll play a key role in developing services and improving outcomes for vulnerable people within the local community.

Day-to-Day Duties:

Lead, supervise and support a team, providing regular supervision, coaching and performance management.
Oversee the day-to-day delivery of homelessness and supported housing services, ensuring high standards of support.
Monitor service performance against KPIs, contractual requirements and quality standards.
Promote a person-centred, trauma-informed approach that empowers individuals to achieve positive outcomes.
Build and maintain effective partnerships with commissioners, local authorities and external agencies.
Manage service budgets, operational compliance and reporting requirements.
Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are upheld and risk is effectively managed.
Identify opportunities for service development and continuous improvement.
Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota to provide management support when required.

About You:

Previous management experience within homelessness, housing, supported housing, social care or a similar support service.
Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate, develop and support staff.
Experience managing operational performance, budgets and contractual targets.
Sound understanding of safeguarding, risk management and trauma-informed practice.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Organised and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle for business travel.
Flexible to participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota.
