Overview

We are a small, family‑run residential care home dedicated to providing warm, person‑centred care to our elderly residents. We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and highly organised Registered Manager to lead our small care team, uphold high standards of practice, and ensure our home remains a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment for every resident.

This role requires a hands‑on leader who values personalised care, strong relationships, and a supportive team culture.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

Provide clear, supportive leadership to a small care team, promoting a positive, inclusive, and person‑centred working culture.
Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the home, ensuring smooth running of all care, staffing, and administrative functions.
Lead by example through visible, compassionate practice and consistent professional standards.
Support staff through supervision, coaching, and ongoing development to maintain high-quality care delivery.

Person‑Centred Care Delivery

Ensure all residents receive personalised, respectful, and meaningful care that reflects their individual needs, preferences, and life history.
Work closely with residents and their families to maintain open communication, trust, and involvement in care planning.
Monitor care plans, risk assessments, and daily documentation to ensure accuracy, relevance, and compliance with best practice.
Promote independence, dignity, choice, and wellbeing in every aspect of residents’ daily life.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance

Maintain full compliance with CQC regulations, the Health and Social Care Act, and all relevant legislation.
Lead quality assurance processes, including audits, reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and concerns are addressed promptly and appropriately.
Prepare for inspections and ensure the home consistently meets or exceeds regulatory expectations.

Team Collaboration & Communication

Foster strong teamwork within a small, close‑knit staff group, encouraging open communication and shared responsibility.
Organise rotas, manage staffing levels, and ensure safe, effective cover at all times.
Support staff wellbeing, recognising the importance of a positive working environment in delivering excellent care.

Operational & Administrative Duties

Manage budgets, resources, and supplies responsibly and efficiently.
Oversee recruitment, induction, and ongoing training of staff.
Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation in line with regulatory and organisational requirements.
Ensure the home environment remains safe, welcoming, and reflective of a family‑run ethos.

Essential Skills & Qualities

Strong leadership skills with a warm, approachable, and supportive management style.
Deep commitment to person‑centred care and the values of dignity, respect, and compassion.
Excellent communication skills with residents, families, staff, and external professionals.
Sound understanding of CQC standards, safeguarding, and regulatory frameworks.
Ability to work collaboratively within a small team and build positive relationships.
Organised, proactive, and confident in decision‑making.
NVQ Level 5 in Leadership for Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards).

Qualifications

Proven experience in assisted living or senior care environments with a strong background in managing healthcare teams.
Demonstrated knowledge of patient care practices including dementia care, Alzheimer's care, hospice services, and managing individuals with disabilities.
Experience working with children or toddlers in caregiving or educational settings is advantageous.
Familiarity with medical procedures such as medication administration, anatomy basics, laboratory processes, and medical imaging is preferred.
Strong leadership skills with supervising experience in healthcare or social services settings.
Excellent organizational abilities to handle case management responsibilities efficiently.
Knowledge of home care operations and familiarity with ICU or laboratory environments enhances suitability for this role.
