The Kitchen Porter plays an essential role in supporting the delivery of outstanding hospitality and dining experiences for residents, families and visitors. Through maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene and organisation within the kitchen, the role helps create an environment where exceptional food and service is delivered.

Working closely with the wider team, the Kitchen Porter will support the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen, ensuring that colleagues have the resources, equipment and environment needed to deliver high-quality meals and service. Through a proactive and team-focused approach, they will contribute to creating a welcoming home where residents enjoy comfort, dignity and exceptional care.

The Kitchen Porter will play a valuable role in maintaining the standards, professionalism and attention to detail that help make our home a special place to live and work.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout all kitchen, food preparation and storage areas.
Wash, clean and safely store crockery, cutlery, utensils, cookware and kitchen equipment.
Support the kitchen team with the preparation and organisation of service areas before, during and after meal periods.
Ensure waste is disposed of safely and appropriately in line with company procedures.
Assist with the receipt, storage and rotation of deliveries, ensuring stock is handled safely and correctly.
Support the maintenance of a clean, safe and organised working environment at all times.
Demonstrate flexibility in supporting the wider team, undertaking reasonable kitchen and service duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of the home.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across all departments to support exceptional resident experiences.
Follow all food safety, infection prevention, health and safety and regulatory requirements.
Report maintenance, safety or equipment concerns promptly and appropriately.
Contribute to a positive, respectful and supportive team culture.

Essential Experience & Skills

Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
Understanding of the importance of cleanliness, hygiene and safety.
Reliable, hardworking and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Desirable Experience & Skills

Previous experience within hospitality, catering, healthcare or a customer-focused environment.
Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to undertake training.
Understanding of food safety and infection prevention practices.
Experience working within a kitchen environment.
