About the Role:

Nottingham Forest Women is committed to establishing a world-class performance environment aligned with standards of the Barclays Women’s Super League. The Performance Wellbeing Manager will lead the development and delivery of a comprehensive, proactive, and integrated wellbeing strategy that supports sustained elite performance.

The role will ensure players are supported across all aspects of wellbeing, including mental, emotional, social, and professional development, enabling them to perform consistently at the highest level while maintaining long-term personal and professional wellbeing.

This position plays a critical role in embedding wellbeing into the club’s high-performance model, ensuring alignment with club values, performance objectives, and governing body standards.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Performance Wellbeing Strategy and Delivery

Lead and implement a holistic wellbeing strategy aligned with elite WSL performance demands.
Deliver individualised wellbeing plans to optimise player readiness, resilience, and performance sustainability.
Provide proactive and reactive wellbeing support to players across training, competition, injury, and rehabilitation phases.
Monitor player wellbeing through appropriate tools, conversations, and integrated performance systems.
Identify wellbeing risks and implement appropriate support interventions.

Player Care and Performance Support

Provide structured support across key transition points including recruitment, onboarding, injury, return-to-play, contract transitions, and career planning.
Support international players with cultural adaptation, relocation, and lifestyle integration.
Develop players’ life skills, professional behaviours, and personal development to support sustained elite performance.
Work closely with medical and performance staff to support holistic rehabilitation and return-to-performance processes.

Multidisciplinary Team Integration

Operate as a core member of the Women’s First Team multidisciplinary performance team.
Collaborate daily with coaching, medical, psychology, sport science, and performance staff to integrate wellbeing into performance planning.
Contribute to player performance reviews, individual development plans (IDPs), and squad management processes.
Maintain appropriate confidentiality while ensuring relevant performance insights inform decision-making.

Culture and Environment

Contribute to the creation of a psychologically safe, high-performance, and player-centred environment.
Support the development of leadership, accountability, and professional standards within the squad.
Deliver wellbeing education workshops and initiatives to players and staff
Promote behaviours aligned with elite performance and club values.

What are we looking for:

Essential Experience:

Proven experience delivering wellbeing or player care support within elite sport, preferably professional football.
Experience working within high-performance multidisciplinary environments.
Experience supporting athletes in high-pressure, elite performance contexts.
Experience managing sensitive situations with professionalism and confidentiality.

Essential Qualifications:

Degree in Psychology, Sport Psychology, Sport Science, Counselling, Wellbeing, or related discipline.
Mental Health First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Safeguarding certification (or willingness to obtain).
Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain).

Desirable Experience and Qualification:

Experience working within the Women’s Super League or equivalent elite women’s competition.
Accreditation or working towards accreditation with a relevant professional body (e.g., BASES, BPS, EMCC, CIMSPA).
Experience supporting international athletes.
Understanding of FA Women’s Professional Game standards and licensing requirements.
