Salary: £30,000 – £34,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time, up to 45 hours per week
Location: Blue Jasmine, Southampton
Restaurant Type: Asian Fusion Restaurant

About the Role

Blue Jasmine is looking for an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to join our busy Asian fusion restaurant in Southampton.

This is a hands-on kitchen role, supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen, maintaining food quality, leading the team during service and helping ensure smooth kitchen operations.

The role would suit someone who is organised, reliable and confident working in a fast-paced restaurant environment, with previous experience in Asian, Pan-Asian or Asian fusion cuisine.

Key Responsibilities

As Sous Chef, your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations
Leading sections during service
Ensuring dishes are prepared and presented to a high standard
Maintaining consistency, quality and speed during busy service
Assisting with prep, stock control and ordering
Helping manage kitchen cleanliness, hygiene and food safety standards
Supporting and training junior kitchen team members
Ensuring kitchen procedures are followed correctly
Helping monitor waste, portion control and kitchen efficiency
Stepping up in the Head Chef’s absence when required

About You

We are looking for someone who:

Has previous experience as a Sous Chef, or is a strong Chef de Partie ready to step up
Has experience working with Asian, Pan-Asian or Asian fusion cuisine
Is confident working in a busy, high-quality restaurant kitchen
Has strong food preparation and service skills
Is organised, reliable and calm under pressure
Can lead and motivate a small kitchen team
Has good knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety standards
Takes pride in consistency, presentation and attention to detail
Is flexible with working hours, including evenings and weekends
Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic

Essential Requirements

Previous experience in a professional kitchen
Previous experience with Asian, Pan-Asian or Asian fusion cuisine
Strong understanding of food hygiene and health & safety standards
Ability to work up to 45 hours per week
Right to work in the UK
Good communication and teamwork skills

Desirable Skills

Experience supporting menu development
Experience with stock control and ordering
Food Hygiene Level 2 or above
Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant environment
