Specialist Children’s Home Deputy Manager

You will ideally understand some of the challenges that you could be faced with as it can be a challenging yet rewarding role.

We need someone who can be a role model, work well within a team, has great communication skills, and is willing to go the extra mile.

You will need 2 years of working in a residential children’s home with at least 1 year of supervisory experience working at a senior level. You will already have L3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent, plus L5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or be working towards, or have a willingness to undertake this.

About the Role

The Deputy Manager is responsible for the effective day-to-day running of the home in the absence of the Registered Manager

Specifically, your responsibilities will be:

· Support the Registered Manager with operational oversight, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance

· Lead, coach, and inspire staff to deliver trauma‑informed, child‑centred care

· Build strong, trusting relationships with children, helping them feel safe, understood, and supported

· Oversee care planning, risk management, and safeguarding with curiosity and professional rigour

· Facilitate reflective practice, team learning, and a culture of continuous improvement

· Ensure routines, boundaries, and expectations are predictable, nurturing, and developmentally informed

· Contribute to multi‑agency work, representing the home with professionalism and child‑focused advocacy

· The day-to-day administration of the home, particularly in terms of meeting legislative and business requirements.

· To provide leadership, guidance, and management.

You’ll be an experienced leader and motivator of adults, and you must have worked in a Children’s Home before supporting children who have experienced childhood trauma.
