Room Leader – Early Years

Overview

We are looking for a passionate, experienced, and enthusiastic Room Leader to join our friendly team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the daily running of the room, ensuring high-quality care and education for all children while supporting and motivating other team members. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is committed to delivering outstanding childcare in a warm, nurturing environment and who is confident in leading by example.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the day-to-day running of the room, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and welcoming environment for all children.
Plan, implement, and evaluate engaging, age-appropriate activities in line with the EYFS framework, supporting each child’s individual learning and development.
Act as a positive role model, providing guidance and support to other staff members and helping to maintain high standards of practice.
Build strong, professional relationships with children, parents, carers, and colleagues through effective communication.
Monitor children’s progress, complete observations and assessments, and contribute to planning for their next steps in learning.
Ensure all children receive high-quality care, including supporting personal care routines such as nappy changing, toileting, mealtimes, dressing, and promoting independence.
Maintain accurate records and ensure all documentation is completed to a high standard.
Ensure the room is clean, organised, and well-resourced, carrying out regular risk assessments and maintaining a safe environment.
Promote positive behaviour and support children’s emotional wellbeing.
Work alongside the management team to ensure the setting consistently meets EYFS and Ofsted requirements.
Support new staff, students, and apprentices as required.
Always follow the setting’s policies and procedures.
Maintain confidentiality relating to children, families, and staff, complying with Data Protection regulations.
Have a thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures and act appropriately to ensure children’s welfare (training will be provided).

Job Details

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From £15.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Requirements

Previous experience working in an early years setting is essential.
Previous experience as a Senior Practitioner, Deputy Room Leader, or Room Leader is highly desirable.
A relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (or above).
Strong knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding, and Ofsted requirements.
Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
Ability to motivate and support a team while maintaining high standards of care and education.
Confident in building positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Paediatric First Aid qualification is desirable (or willingness to complete training).
