Overview

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Motor Mechanic or MOT Tester to join our dynamic automotive service team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety. As an MOT Tester, you will conduct official safety and emissions tests to certify vehicles meet legal standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where your mechanical expertise and attention to detail will make a real difference. Duties

Perform comprehensive vehicle diagnostics using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical issues accurately
Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake inspections, tire rotations, and fluid replacements
Repair or replace faulty components including brakes, suspension parts, exhaust systems, and engine parts with precision and efficiency
Carry out MOT testing in accordance with legal requirements, ensuring vehicles meet safety and emissions standards before certification
Use hand tools and power tools safely to disassemble and reassemble vehicle parts during repairs
Assist customers by explaining repair needs, providing estimates, and advising on maintenance schedules
Handle heavy lifting of vehicle parts or components safely while adhering to health and safety regulations

Requirements

Proven mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in vehicle repair and maintenance
Certification or qualification as an MOT Tester is highly desirable; relevant training can be provided for the right candidate
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment effectively
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling vehicle parts or equipment
Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety standards and quality workmanship
Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with team members and customers
A proactive attitude with the energy to thrive in a busy workshop environment
