Full job description

Job Summary
Are you passionate about making a positive difference in people’s lives? We are seeking dedicated Community Support Worker's to join our friendly team, supporting adults with mental health needs in their own homes across Torquay, Newton Abbot and the surrounding areas. This rewarding role involves providing practical assistance, emotional support, and encouragement to help individuals maintain their independence and wellbeing. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives through personalised and person centred support.

Responsibilities

Support individuals with a range of mental health diagnosis's, building your own knowledge of mental health through training and experience.
Assist with medication through prompts, ordering and collection, to ensure medication compliance.
Maintain accurate records and uphold the confidentiality and dignity of the service user at all times.
Provide transportation support by driving clients to appointments/grocery shopping or social activities when necessary.
Monitor and report on clients’ health status, behaviour changes, and any concerns to relevant healthcare professionals.
Assist with light housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and clean environment.
Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote mental stimulation and social interaction.
Support families by working in partnership with them and health professionals to provide tailored support to their loved ones.

Requirements

Experience in mental health or social care is desirable but not essential – full training provided.
An application will be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service if the candidate is successful, as a clean enhanced DBS is needed to undertake lone working with service users.
Basic knowledge of mental health, including Dementia, Personality Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, and Anxiety and Depression.
Use of your own car with a valid driving licence with a clean driving record for transportation duties.
Excellent communication skills with a compassionate approach towards service users of all ages.
A good common sense approach to problem solving.

We are looking to employ under two teams which cover the following areas:

Torbay Team - Torquay, Paignton and Brixham

Teignbridge Team - Newton Abbot, Teignmouth, Dawlish, Bovey Tracy, Kingskerswell, Totnes

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From £12.80 per hour
