Customs Administrator

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Corby

Are you an experienced Customs or Import/Export professional looking for your next challenge? We are seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Customs Administrator to join our fast-paced operation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong customs compliance knowledge and hands-on experience managing import and export processes within the UK and Northern Ireland trading environment.

The Role

As a Customs Administrator, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth movement of goods across borders while maintaining full compliance with HMRC regulations and company procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

Preparing accurate Import/Export Declaration Instructions to provide to Customs Clearing Agents
Raising accurate Commercial Invoices and Packing Lists for Exports
Obtaining Health/Veterinary Certificates where necessary from Technical Teams
Completing Import and Export Declarations using CDS software and TSS (ENS/SFD, and Supplementary Declarations)
Creating CHEDs on TRACESNT and IPAFFS
Raising GMRs in GVMS
Monitoring the arrival and dispatch of goods, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete
Liaising with customers both internal & external, suppliers, and transport providers to ensure smooth movement of goods
Ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and internal company procedures
Filing complete Import/Export documentation packs for audit purposes
Supporting the wider business with advising and/or handling customs related queries

Requirements

Must have a good understanding of Commodity Codes and Preferential Origin.
Be familiar with The Windsor Framework/Northern Ireland Protocol, UKIMS (At Risk/Not At Risk)
Knowledge of UK customs procedures/HMRC Customs Compliance requirements
Previous experience using CDS (via software), TSS. TRACESNT, IPAFFS, GVMS)
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Strong communicator with the ability to build effective working relationships
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Dynamics (D365)
Able to prioritise workloads and work effectively in a fast-paced environment (FMCG)
Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
Previous experience within Import/Export administrator/customs role and understanding of logistics operations is essential.
