Full job description

Job Summary

We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and person-centred Support Workers to join our supported living service, supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, and complex support requirements. The role involves helping people to live as independently as possible in their own homes and within the community, while promoting choice, dignity, safety, and wellbeing. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive difference every day by supporting individuals to build confidence, develop life skills, access meaningful activities, and achieve their personal goals.

Duties

· Provide person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, and complex needs

· Support individuals to develop daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, budgeting, and maintaining their home

· Assist with personal care where required, always maintaining dignity, privacy, and choice

· Support with medication in line with care plans, policies, and training

· Encourage independence, confidence, and positive routines based on each person’s individual goals and preferences

· Support people to access the community, attend appointments, take part in activities, and maintain relationships with family and friends

· Use positive behaviour support approaches to help individuals manage anxiety, distress, or behaviours that may challenge

· Promote emotional wellbeing through patience, reassurance, active listening, and consistent support

· Maintain accurate records, including daily notes, incident reports, medication records, and updates to support plans

· Work as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues, families, health professionals, and other agencies

Requirements

· Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, or complex needs is desirable, but not essential as training will be provided

· A caring, patient, and respectful approach with a genuine commitment to person-centred support

· Good communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships

· Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, dignity, choice, and promoting independence

· Willingness to complete training such as medication, safeguarding, autism awareness, learning disability awareness, mental health awareness, and positive behaviour support

· Ability to remain calm, consistent, and professional when supporting individuals who may experience anxiety, distress, or behaviours that challenge

· Flexibility to work shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins where required

· Ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team

· A full UK driving licence is desirable where community access or travel between services is required

· Please note: We are not currently able to offer sponsorship for this role. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK.

Pay: £13.00 per hour
