4 days-a-week, 8am - 6pm

We're on the lookout for a warm and outgoing Sous Chef to join our amazing Kitchen Team at Langtree Care Home.

Role Overview:

As a Sous Chef, you will assist the Kitchen Team with daily kitchen operations and undertake all Sous Chef duties as applicable to the highest standard.

You will assist in the preparation of meals and liaise with Care staff and residents in a polite person-centred manner whilst maintaining your skills and undertaking such training and development as required.

Role Expectations:

Role Specific Duties:

To support the day-to-day running of the kitchen and the delivery of consistent, high-quality, delicious and nutritious dishes to our residents
Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of those individuals the service supports
Possess knowledge of Health and Safety food regulations, IDDSI framework and coach the rest of the kitchen team
To ensure food items are stored correctly and in rotation to minimise wastage using all company labelling and dating processes
Ensure all equipment is in good working order, reporting any faults immediately.
Ensure all equipment supplied is used with care and in accordance with supplier instructions and training received
Support the delivery and serving of food where required
Develop a good understanding and knowledge of individual resident dietary requirements, sharing any concerns with the team
Be clean, hygienic and well-presented at all times

Working with Others:

To develop effective working relationships with other employees and support and develop new and less experienced members of the team
To attend and participate in team meetings
Work with the Head Chef in a positive way whilst being proactive in identifying any duties that need to be completed
To be responsible for the health and safety of yourself as well as others in the home under the Health and Safety regulations whilst promptly reporting any hazards or potential hazards to the relevant person
You will have the ability to work under pressure whilst being flexible and consistent
Liaise and communicate effectively with care staff to understand the dietary needs of the residents in the home

Leading by Example:

To seek opportunities for professional and personal growth and development
Be a role model for other members of the team and be an ambassador for the service
Be professional, polite and reasonable at all times
To provide a warm welcome to all new residents, team members and all visitors and to familiarise them with the home
You will have strong communication skills, be cooperative and have excellent attention to detail
To complete opening and closing checks on a daily basis
To utilise all the resources within the kitchen effectively

Personal and Professional Development:

Attend statutory training and any other training as directed whilst being open to learning opportunities
Have a good understanding of dementia and how it affects those living with the disease
Have a basic knowledge of CQC and the fundamental standards
To adhere to all of Millennium Care UK Ltd.’s Policies and Procedures

Salary & Benefits:

£15.52 per hour
8am til 6pm shifts, with 45 min break
Rolling 2 week rota, 3 days one week, 4 days the next.
