Overview

Join our dedicated team as a Senior Residential Support Worker and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people. In this vital role, you will provide high-quality care and support within a residential setting, fostering a safe, nurturing environment that promotes growth, independence, and well-being. Your leadership and expertise will empower young individuals to overcome challenges and develop essential life skills. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead by example, inspire positive change, and work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals.

Duties

Deliver personalised care in accordance with individual care plans, ensuring each child's needs are met with compassion and professionalism
Support children with daily activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, educational tasks, and recreational pursuits
Lead and supervise team members to maintain a safe and supportive environment while promoting best practices in childcare
Maintain accurate documentation of care activities, incident reports, and updates to care plans
Foster open communication with children, families, social workers, and other professionals to ensure cohesive support, care and development
Drive company policies on safeguarding and child protection protocols
Assist in planning activities that promote social skills development, independence, and emotional resilience
Oversee a shift, ensuring leadership, ownership and dedication

Experience and qualifications

Proven experience, of more than 2 years, working with children or young people in a residential or childcare setting
Strong understanding of child development and strategies to support, and enhance, development
Ability to develop and implement effective care plans tailored to individual needs
Excellent communication skills to engage confidently with children, families, colleagues, and external agencies
Valid driving license preferred for transporting children or attending off-site activities
Competency in using IT systems for record keeping, reporting, and communication purposes
Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide team members effectively
