Job Summary

Gourmet Sushi in Woolwich is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Sushi Chef, Hot Food Chef, or Combination Chef to join our team. The successful candidate will have experience preparing high-quality Japanese cuisine and a passion for delivering excellent food and customer satisfaction. This is a hands-on kitchen role focused on food preparation and service, rather than a Head Chef or supervisory position.

The role involves preparing sushi, sashimi, and/or hot Japanese dishes, maintaining food safety standards, and working closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth daily operations in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook sushi, sashimi, and/or hot Japanese dishes to a high standard.
Ensure food is prepared consistently and presented attractively.
Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations.
Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient workstation.
Monitor ingredient quality and assist with stock rotation and storage.
Support the kitchen team during busy service periods.
Work collaboratively with front-of-house staff to ensure timely service.
Assist with general kitchen duties as required.

Requirements

Previous experience as a Sushi Chef, Hot Food Chef, or Japanese Cuisine Chef.
Knowledge of sushi preparation, sashimi, tempura, teriyaki, fried rice, noodles, or other Japanese dishes.
Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety practices.
Ability to work efficiently in a busy restaurant environment.
Strong attention to detail and consistency in food preparation.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
A positive attitude and a passion for Japanese food.
