Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Bookkeeping Team Leader to oversee our finance department’s bookkeeping operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of accounting software, and a keen eye for detail. This role offers an excellent opportunity to lead a team, optimise financial processes, and contribute to the organisation’s financial health. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with a solid background in bookkeeping and accounting management.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise the bookkeeping team to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
Oversee daily bookkeeping activities, including data entry, reconciliations, and ledger management.
Utilise accounting software such as Sage, Xero and QuickBooks to manage accounts efficiently.
Manage accounts payable processes, ensuring invoices are processed correctly and promptly.
Maintain organised financial records in compliance with organisational policies and legal requirements.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless financial operations and reporting.
Provide training and support to team members on best practices in bookkeeping and accounting software usage.
Prepare regular financial reports for management review and audit purposes.
Identify opportunities for process improvements within the bookkeeping function.
Have experience managing the bookkeeping requirements of multiple companies or clients
Ensuring all work is completed accurately and in accordance with relevant procedures and regulations
Supporting the wider accounts team as required

Experience

Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or team leader capacity.
Have previous experience working as a Bookkeeper, ideally within an accountancy practice or a multi-client environment
Extensive knowledge of accounting software such as Sage, Xero and QuickBooks is essential.
Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and general ledger management.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining high standards of accuracy and organisation.
Excellent organisational skills with an eye for detail and accuracy in financial data handling.
Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance standards relevant to bookkeeping activities.
Level 4 AAT qualified and practise experience
