Full job description

Consumer Genius is a fast-growing and well-established business, recognised for delivering high-quality services and innovative solutions within the UK market. Our continued growth is underpinned by a strong commitment to regulatory compliance, consumer protection, and ethical business practices—particularly within the lead generation and regulated financial services space.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced UK Compliance Officer to act as the firm’s SMF16 – Compliance Oversight function. This is a senior, part-time role responsible for overseeing and maintaining the effectiveness of Consumer Genius Ltd’s compliance framework in the United Kingdom.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the UK compliance function, ensuring that the business operates in line with all applicable laws, FCA expectations, and industry best practices relating to lead generation and regulated marketing activities.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the firm’s SMF16 (Compliance Oversight), with overall responsibility for the UK compliance function.
Design, implement, and maintain a proportionate and effective compliance framework for UK lead generation activities.
Ensure ongoing compliance with UK GDPR, PECR, FCA rules, and other relevant UK legislation and regulatory guidance.
Conduct compliance monitoring, audits, and risk assessments, identifying areas of risk and implementing remedial actions where required.
Provide oversight and guidance to Marketing, Operations, Legal, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance is embedded into campaigns, processes, and supplier relationships.
Monitor regulatory developments and FCA communications, ensuring policies, procedures, and controls remain up to date.
Deliver targeted compliance training and guidance to staff involved in lead generation and regulated activities.
Serve as the primary point of contact for the FCA, external advisors, auditors, and other regulatory stakeholders.
Prepare compliance reports and updates for senior management and, where required, the board.

Requirements

Proven experience in a UK compliance role, ideally within lead generation, financial services, or regulated marketing.
Strong working knowledge of UK GDPR, PECR, and FCA regulatory expectations.
Prior experience in an FCA-regulated environment (e.g. retail finance, consumer lending, or regulated intermediaries) is highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to operate independently as a senior compliance professional, including oversight of compliance risk frameworks.
Experience performing or holding a Senior Management Function (SMF) role, or clear capability to do so (SMF16 experience preferred).
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to advise and challenge the business appropriately at all levels.
Comfortable working in a part-time capacity (5 days a week x 4hrs/day ) within a growing organisation.

Pay: £25,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
