Finance & Operations Manager
Location: Cupar, Fife (primarily office-based with flexibility for occasional home working)
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
About MNR Travel Ltd
MNR Travel Ltd is an independent travel company creating premium educational, creative and bespoke group travel experiences throughout the UK and Europe.
We operate through two distinct brands:
Creative Travel Services (CTS) delivers bespoke travel programmes for organisations, international brands and specialist groups across Europe.
Creative Experiences creates premium creative retreats and specialist textile tours, working with internationally recognised tutors, museums, heritage organisations and leading manufacturers.
We’re a privately owned husband-and-wife business founded and led by Mark and Nadine Roger. Although we’ve grown significantly over recent years, we’ve worked hard to retain the friendly, collaborative and entrepreneurial culture that has helped make us successful.
Like many growing businesses, our systems are continually evolving. We’re not looking for someone who simply follows existing processes—we’re looking for someone who enjoys improving them.
If you like working in an environment where your ideas are listened to, your contribution genuinely matters and no two days are ever the same, you’ll feel right at home.
The Opportunity
This is the first dedicated Finance & Operations Manager role within our business.
Working directly alongside the founders, you’ll become a trusted member of our management team, taking ownership of the day-to-day finance function while helping us build the systems, controls and processes that will support the next stage of our growth.
You’ll work closely with our external accountants based in Chamonix, France, ensuring they receive accurate, timely financial information so they can produce management accounts, VAT returns, taxation and compliance services.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and helping build a growing business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the business.
- Maintain accurate purchase and sales ledgers.
- Process supplier invoices, expenses and customer transactions.
- Reconcile company bank accounts, credit cards and payment platforms including Stripe and Wise.
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping using Xero.
- Monitor customer payments and supplier commitments.
- Prepare supplier payment runs for director approval.
- Support cash flow forecasting and financial planning.
- Prepare complete and accurate financial information for our external accountants.
- Assist with VAT and year-end accounting processes.
- Maintain organised digital financial records.
- Improve financial systems, workflows and internal controls.
- Support the directors with accurate financial information to assist commercial decision making.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through better systems and automation.
About You
You’ll probably have experience in a role such as:
- Finance & Operations Manager
- Finance Manager
- Senior Bookkeeper
- Finance Officer
- Management Accountant
More important than your job title is your approach.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has significant bookkeeping or finance experience within a growing SME.
- Has experience using Xero accounting software.
- Has excellent reconciliation skills and strong attention to detail.
- Is confident using Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Has experience working with multi-currency transactions and payment platforms.
- Is organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Enjoys solving problems and improving systems.
- Is comfortable working directly with business owners.
- Communicates confidently with colleagues, suppliers and external accountants.
Experience within travel, hospitality, events or another project-based business would be advantageous but is certainly not essential.
Professional bookkeeping or accounting qualifications such as AAT are welcomed, but we place just as much value on practical experience, commercial awareness and the right attitude.
Working Environment
This is primarily an office-based role because we believe the best ideas come from working closely together.
We recognise the importance of flexibility, so occasional home working can be accommodated by agreement.
There will also be occasional short business trips to Chamonix, France, where you’ll meet face-to-face with our external accountants to review financial performance, discuss future planning and continue developing our finance function together. As the business grows, there may also be opportunities to travel elsewhere in the UK and Europe.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
- Primarily office-based role with flexibility for occasional home working.
- Opportunities to grow with a fast-growing, entrepreneurial business.
- Direct access to the founders, with the opportunity to influence how the business develops.
- A varied role where no two days are the same.
- Occasional business travel within the UK and Europe, including trips to Chamonix, France.
- A supportive, collaborative and informal working environment where your ideas are valued.
- The opportunity to help build and shape the company’s finance function as the business continues to grow.
- Long-term career development with increasing responsibility as the company expands.
Why Join MNR Travel?
This isn’t a role where you’ll simply maintain existing processes. We’re looking for someone who enjoys improving systems, taking ownership and helping build the next chapter of a growing business.
You’ll work directly with the founders, play a key role in shaping the future of the business and have genuine influence over how we continue to grow.
If you’re looking for a role where you can make a real impact while building a long-term career with an ambitious and supportive business, we’d love to hear from you.
