Permanent Position – In-Person Role

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in food preparation and safety, with prior experience in a kitchen or restaurant setting. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in meal preparation, ensuring that all dishes meet our highest standards for quality and presentation.

Currently, we serve lunch five days a week, from Tuesday to Saturday inclusive. However, there are plans to expand our offering to include breakfasts and evening meals on select days, with final details to be confirmed. A job share arrangement may be considered, and start and finish times can be adjusted to accommodate child commitments.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to recipes and menus.
Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and standards.
Assist in menu planning, taking into account dietary restrictions and customer preferences.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment.
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service, particularly during busy periods.
Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and report shortages to management as needed.
Assist with training new kitchen staff in food preparation techniques and safety protocols.
Support the maintenance and adherence to all health and safety matters in the kitchen, including preparation and updating of risk assessments.

Experience & Skills

Proven experience as a Cook or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant or catering environment is preferred.
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and the use of kitchen equipment.
Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practice standards.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail in meal presentation.
A genuine passion for cooking and creating high-quality dishes that delight customers.

Qualifications

A recognised qualification in food preparation and cooking is desirable.
A three star food safety award is required.
