EMG Solicitors is an award winning Legal 500 law firm with offices across the North but acting nationally, specialising in Court of Protection, Deputyships, Mental Health Law, Family Law and Mediation, Residential Conveyancing, Dispute Resolution, Education Law and Wills, Trusts & Probate services.

Our mission is to provide the legal support our clients require in order to achieve anything from their basic needs to their wildest dreams and everything in between.

What are we looking for?

We are currently looking to recruit a IT Services Assistant to join our internal IT Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their IT career in a professional legal environment.

Where will you be based?

This role can be based from our Durham office, but we would expect you to travel and work from other offices from time to time.

How many hours will you be working?

This is a full-time role which is 35 hours per week, however at EMG Solicitor we work flexibly, its not a 9 to 5 role, but we do expect the work to be done, when you do it can be largely up to yourself, your Team Leader and the requirements of your clients.

A brief overview of the role:

As an IT Services Assistant, you will be the first point of contact for all IT-related queries within the firm. You will provide technical support to staff across multiple departments, ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations and maintaining high standards of service.

What will we expect from you:

Provide first-line technical support via phone, email, and in-person.
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
Set up and configure new user accounts, laptops, desktops, and mobile devices.
Maintain and update IT documentation and asset registers.
Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff or external providers when necessary.
Support and maintain legal-specific applications and case management systems.
Participate in IT projects such as system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
Document technical procedures and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

To be able to perform this job you will need.

Previous experience in a helpdesk or IT support role (1+ year preferred).
Strong knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and basic networking.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
A proactive and problem-solving mindset.
Understanding of confidentiality and data security, especially in a legal context.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Driving License and your own car.
Experience working in a legal or professional services environment. (Desirable)
Familiarity with legal software is a plus. (Desirable)
Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, ITIL, Microsoft Certified). (Desirable)
