About DB Foods
DB Foods is a growing and ambitious food business, and technology is becoming increasingly important to how we operate and grow.
We’re looking for a hands-on, commercially minded Head of IT who wants to make a genuine difference. This isn’t a role for someone who wants to sit back and manage from a distance. We’re looking for someone who will take ownership, solve problems, improve systems, automate processes and get things done.
You’ll have the opportunity to shape our IT strategy, develop our systems and processes, and help move the business forward through better use of technology.
If you’re the type of person who sees a manual process and thinks “we can automate that”, enjoys getting stuck into SharePoint and Power Automate, understands Dynamics 365, and has the drive to turn ideas into practical improvements, we’d like to hear from you.
The Role
As Head of IT, you’ll be responsible for the performance, security and development of DB Foods’ IT environment, while also leading the business forward through automation, systems improvement and digital transformation.
You’ll balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery — managing infrastructure, suppliers and people while also getting involved in projects, problem-solving and continuous improvement.
You’ll work closely with teams across the business to understand what they need from technology and then make it happen.
Key responsibilities
- Own the performance, resilience, security and development of our network, servers, cloud, endpoints and wider IT infrastructure.
- Develop and deliver an IT strategy and technology roadmap aligned with business growth.
- Lead, develop and support the IT team, including prioritisation, performance, recruitment and capability development.
- Manage outsourced IT providers and technology partners, ensuring service levels, value for money and performance are delivered.
- Own the IT budget, including forecasting, supplier spend, licensing and investment decisions.
- Identify IT risks and maintain appropriate disaster recovery, backup, business continuity and cyber resilience arrangements.
- Assess and introduce technology that improves business performance, efficiency and scalability.
- Lead the ongoing development and improvement of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
- Maximise the use of Microsoft 365, SharePoint and Power Automate across the business.
- Develop SharePoint into a genuinely useful company intranet and collaboration platform, improving communication, document management, knowledge sharing and governance.
- Identify manual, inefficient or duplicated processes and find ways to automate and simplify them.
- Build workflows and automation using Power Automate to reduce administration, improve controls and free people up to focus on higher-value work.
- Support system adoption, reporting, controls and process improvement within Dynamics 365.
- Lead and contribute to IT projects, ensuring they are delivered effectively and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
- Maintain appropriate security controls across systems, networks, data and devices.
- Oversee endpoint and device management, including tools such as Datto RMM.
- Troubleshoot issues and get involved where required — this is a hands-on leadership role.
- Develop and maintain IT policies, SOPs, documentation and user guidance.
- Continuously look for ways that technology can make DB Foods better, faster and more efficient.
What we're looking for
We’re looking for someone with strong technical knowledge, but just as importantly, drive, curiosity and the ability to turn ideas into action.
Essential experience
- Proven experience in IT management, project management and people management.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, networks, hardware, software and technical support.
- Hands-on experience managing computer networks and IT infrastructure.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
- Excellent practical knowledge of SharePoint.
- Hands-on experience with Power Automate and business process automation.
- Essential experience of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, including system administration awareness, process improvement, reporting, controls and user adoption.
- Experience with remote monitoring, device management and endpoint management tools such as Datto RMM.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to work with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines.
- A proactive, commercially aware approach with a genuine interest in continuous improvement.
Desirable experience
- Food, FMCG, manufacturing or distribution experience.
- Experience managing outsourced IT providers, software vendors and infrastructure partners.
- Experience delivering digital transformation or automation projects.
The person we're looking for
Most importantly, you’ll be someone who does the doing.
You won’t wait for someone else to tell you how to solve a problem. You’ll investigate it, understand it, find a better way and take ownership of getting it delivered.
You’ll be comfortable moving between strategy and practical delivery — whether that means discussing IT investment with senior leadership, working with a supplier, improving a Dynamics process, building a SharePoint solution or creating a Power Automate workflow.
You’ll want to leave things better than you found them.
We want someone who can help DB Foods get more from its technology today while building the foundations for where the business is going tomorrow.
What's in it for you?
This is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of IT within a growing business and have a visible impact on how DB Foods operates.
You’ll have the scope to:
- Shape and deliver the company’s IT strategy.
- Drive automation and digital transformation.
- Develop our use of Dynamics 365, SharePoint and Microsoft 365.
- Build a stronger, more efficient IT function.
- Work closely with senior leadership and teams across the business.
- Make practical changes that have a measurable impact.
- Develop your career towards broader technology, systems and business transformation leadership.
Career progression
There is a clear opportunity for the successful candidate to grow with the business, with potential progression towards:
Head of IT → IT Director / Technology Lead → Wider Transformation, Systems or Business Change Leadership
Ready to make a difference?
If you’re an IT leader who combines technical capability with commercial thinking, automation expertise and a genuine desire to get things done, we’d love to hear from you.
