On top of the salary we have a generous tips system £8000 plus per year

Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous chef to join our dynamic culinary team. We are a very busy popular village pub.

In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality dishes, ensuring consistency and excellence in every plate served. Your expertise will help create memorable dining experiences for our guests by maintaining the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and presentation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary talents in a fast-paced, energetic environment where teamwork and innovation are celebrated.

Hours : 43 - 50 hours a week depending on time of year, we have a 4 week rotating rota, including early, late and split shifts.

Were closed Monday's, Christmas Day and Boxing Day

We are in a village location, you MUST be able to drive, we have onsite parking

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a variety of dishes with precision, creativity, and attention to detail.
Work alongside our head chef, assist with menu planning
Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards to ensure consistency across all menu items.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of your designated station, adhering to strict food safety protocols at all times.
Collaborate with the kitchen team to coordinate meal preparation and ensure timely service.
Assist in training junior kitchen staff and sharing best practices to uphold quality standards.
Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate needs for restocking or substitutions.
Support the overall operation of the kitchen by maintaining a positive attitude and proactive approach during busy service periods.

Requirements

Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or a similar culinary role within a restaurant / pub or hospitality setting.
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and proper handling techniques.
Demonstrated ability to prepare diverse meals efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality.
Excellent kitchen experience with familiarity in various cooking methods and culinary techniques.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while staying organized and focused.
Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and serve guests promptly.
Prior experience in serving or interacting with customers is a plus but not mandatory.
