Plater – Bridgwater

Location: Bridgwater, TA5 1UD
Pay: £29.34 per hour

About PipeWize

PipeWize Ltd is a rapidly growing mechanical and industrial services contractor delivering complex projects across the UK. As our fabrication and installation activities continue to expand, we are looking for experienced Platers to support the fabrication, assembly and installation of structural steelwork and mechanical components.

The Role

As a Plater, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling and installing steel structures, platework and mechanical components in accordance with engineering drawings and project specifications.

You will work closely with Welders, Riggers, Supervisors and Site Teams to ensure all work is completed safely, accurately and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Fabrication and Assembly

Mark out, cut, shape and assemble steel plate and structural components.
Interpret technical drawings, isometrics and fabrication details.
Prepare materials for welding, including edge preparation and fit-up.
Carry out tack welding where required, subject to competency.
Assemble and fit steel structures, pipe supports and mechanical components.

Installation and Site Work

Install fabricated components, ensuring correct alignment and positioning.
Work with Riggers and Crane Operators during lifting and installation activities.
Assist with positioning and securing structural steelwork and platework.
Ensure work complies with project specifications and quality standards.
Complete self-checks to confirm the accuracy of fabrication and installation.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must hold one of the following:

A Level 3 Apprenticeship in Plating, Fabrication, Welding, Structural Steelwork, Shipbuilding or Metalworking; or
A minimum Level 3 Diploma or NVQ in Plating, Fabrication, Welding, Structural Steelwork, Shipbuilding or Metalworking.

Applicants must also have at least five years’ experience working as a Plater within industrial construction environments.

Evidence of the relevant Level 3 qualification is mandatory and must be provided before an application can progress.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Valid right to work in the United Kingdom.
Valid CCNSG Safety Passport.
Willingness to undergo and satisfactorily pass a DBS check if required by the project or client.
