Full job description

Overview

Amtrak Logistics are growing Haulage company based in Coventry , West Midlands.We are looking for an experienced Transport Manager who holds a valid Transport Manager CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) to manage our transport operations and ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation along with at least 2-5 years’ experience in Transport Planning and , Management preferably in transport and Logistics.

The role will involve:

Arranging and planning vehicles daily.
Ensure compliance with Operator Licence (O-Licence) undertakings and all DVSA regulations.
Manage driver compliance, including working time, drivers' hours, and tachograph regulations.
Plan and oversee vehicle maintenance schedules, MOTs, inspections, and defect reporting.
Monitor fleet performance, utilisation, and operational efficiency.
Recruit, train, and manage drivers where required.
Investigate and resolve transport-related incidents and compliance issues.
Maintain accurate transport records and documentation.
Provide supporting information to customers and managing driver workloads.
Ensuring vehicles are operating efficiently and profitably.
Communicating with customers and resolving issues when they arise.
You will be responsible for a team of drivers and vehicles including HGV's.
To ensure all vehicle walkaround and defects are being completed.
Liaise with our sales and accounts teams for any delivery or POD enquiries.
Plan and route all daily and next day vehicles.
Debrief drivers after route and reconcile any paperwork/payments.

Essential Requirements

Valid Transport Manager CPC (Road Haulage) qualification.
Previous experience managing a transport operation within the haulage or logistics industry.
Thorough knowledge of UK Operator Licence requirements, DVSA regulations, and drivers' hours legislation.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and transport management systems.
Experience managing HGV fleets.
Knowledge of FORS, Earned Recognition, or other compliance schemes.
Experience with fleet management software.
