Full job description

Join the Opening Team at The Greyhound, Cromford

The Greyhound is one of the best-known pubs in the Cromford and Matlock area and is currently undergoing a major refurbishment ahead of an exciting reopening in October 2026.

The venue combines a historic pub and restaurant with a nine-bedroom boutique hotel, and we are now starting to build the kitchen team that will be part of its next chapter.

Rather than recruiting rigidly to traditional kitchen job titles, we are looking to speak to chefs at different stages of their careers and build the team around the strengths, experience and personalities of the people we recruit.

You may already be an experienced Sous Chef or Chef de Partie, or you may be a developing chef looking for the opportunity to progress within a new kitchen team.

The Food

Our focus will be on quality British food using seasonal produce, with Derbyshire and local suppliers playing an important part in the menu.

We want to produce food that people genuinely want to come back for – well cooked, consistently presented and delivered without unnecessary complication.

The Greyhound will serve food seven days a week, including breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday roasts.

Who We're Looking For

We are interested in hearing from chefs with a range of experience.

More important than your current job title is your attitude towards food, teamwork and standards.

We are looking for people who:

Take genuine pride in the food they produce
Enjoy working with fresh ingredients
Understand the importance of consistency and attention to detail
Work well as part of a team
Can remain organised and calm during busy services
Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness and food safety
Are reliable and willing to take responsibility
Want to learn, develop and contribute ideas
Have a positive attitude and enjoy working in a professional kitchen

For more experienced applicants, there will be opportunities to take on additional responsibility and play an important part in helping lead and develop the kitchen team.

For chefs earlier in their career, we are equally interested in people with the right attitude who want to learn and progress.

Pay: £13.50-£16.50 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 45.0 per week
