Full job description

Role Purpose

Dreams and Purpose Group Ltd provides high-quality supported accommodation for young people aged 16 and over placed by local authorities. As a Support Worker, you will play a central role in helping young people develop the practical skills, emotional resilience, and personal confidence needed to transition successfully into independent living. This role requires someone who brings genuine commitment, professional boundaries, and the ability to build trusting relationships with young people whose experiences may include trauma, exploitation, instability, or disruption in care.

Key ResponsibilitiesDirect Support & Keywork

Deliver structured, strengths-based keywork sessions that actively support each young person's progress toward independence.
Build and maintain consistent, professional relationships with young people, providing reliable and boundaried support.
Support young people to develop life skills including cooking, budgeting, cleaning, personal hygiene, and managing appointments.
Complete accurate, timely support plan records, daily logs, and risk assessments in line with Dreams and Purpose Group Ltd standards.
Actively promote and record progress against identified goals and outcomes.

Safeguarding & Risk Management

Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, including county lines, exploitation, self-harm, and substance misuse.
Follow all safeguarding procedures in line with Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023) and the Children Act 1989/2004.
Contribute to multi-agency working, attending professionals' meetings, and liaising with social workers, YOT workers, and other partners.
Complete and update risk assessments, missing from placement (MFP) protocols, and return-to-home interviews.
Report all incidents, near-misses, and concerns promptly using the correct internal procedures.

Shift & Property Management

Work flexible shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and sleep-in duties as required by the rota.
Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming property environment that meets Ofsted Supported Accommodation Standards (2023).
Manage and document petty cash, household budgets, and property checks accurately.
Conduct fire safety checks, property inspections, and report maintenance issues promptly.

Professional Practice

Uphold and promote the values of Dreams and Purpose Group Ltd at all times, acting with integrity, respect, and professionalism.
Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and mandatory training.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, Ofsted standards, and best practice in supported accommodation.
Contribute to the organisation's culture of continuous improvement and reflective practice.

Person Specification

Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)

Experience working with young people in a residential, supported accommodation, or youth work setting

Demonstrable understanding of trauma, exploitation, and the impact of adverse childhood experiences

Knowledge of safeguarding frameworks and relevant legislation (Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together 2023)

Ability to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour calmly and professionally

Strong written communication skills – able to produce accurate records, logs, and risk assessments

Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in duties

Proficiency in use of IT systems for recording and communication

Experience of working with young people involved in county lines or criminal exploitation

Knowledge of local authority placement frameworks and Ofsted Supported Accommodation Standards

Full UK driving licence
