Taplow – office based

Part-time | Permanent

20-22.5 hours per week, days negotiable (may be a requirement to increase hours)
£15.40 – £17.95 per hour (depending on experience)

About Us

Khalsa Aid International is an award-winning global humanitarian organisation providing aid in disaster zones and supporting vulnerable communities worldwide. We are seeking a Finance Assistant to join our growing team and help ensure transparency, accountability, and effective use of donor funds.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their finance career to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced charity / NGO environment. You will support core finance functions including accounts payable, bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, donor fund tracking, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Process invoices and manage accounts payable
Record and reconcile donations and income streams
Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate ledgers
Manage petty cash and staff expenses
Assist with month-end processes (journals, accruals, prepayments)
Support budgeting and forecasting activities
Maintain organised financial records for audit and compliance
Assist with management accounts and donor reporting
Monitor and track restricted funds
Prepare and submit Gift Aid claims (HMRC)
Update financial data on internal systems (e.g. Notion)
Coordinate payments across international projects and teams
Handling donation queries and issuing donation receipts.
Following up with donors regarding Gift Aid claims and supporting them throughout the Gift Aid process.

Requirements

Essential:

Studying towards or qualified in AAT / ACCA / CIMA or relevant degree
2-3 years’ experience in finance, accounts, or bookkeeping
Experience with accounting software (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks)
Strong Excel skills and numerical ability
High attention to detail and organisation
Strong communication skills
Deadline oriented
Can work independently;
Advanced Excel skills;
Been involved in the process of preparing management reports and preparing for internal and external audits.

Desirable:

Experience in charity / non-profit finance
Knowledge of fund accounting / restricted funding
Exposure to audit or payroll
Understanding of Gift Aid
