Brooks Bros (UK) Ltd is one of the UK's leading independent timber importers and distributors. For over 60 years, we've built a reputation for supplying quality timber products backed by technical expertise and exceptional customer service.

Operating from five strategically located sites across the UK, we supply a comprehensive range of hardwoods, softwoods, sheet materials, flooring, decking, cladding and engineered timber products to timber merchants, joinery manufacturers, contractors and manufacturers nationwide.

We are looking for a motivated and ambitious individual to join our Danbury sales team as a Trainee Sales Executive. This is an excellent opportunity to begin a long-term career within the timber industry, learning from experienced professionals while developing the commercial, technical and customer service skills needed to become a successful timber sales executive.

The Role

Working within our busy and fast-paced sales office, you will receive full training and gradually take on increasing responsibility as your knowledge and confidence grow.

You will gain experience across sales support, customer service, timber products, commercial project management and account development, providing a solid foundation for a rewarding career within the business.

Key Responsibilities

Initially, your responsibilities will include:

Working as part of a dedicated and experienced sales team.
Checking stock availability against customer requirements.
Processing customer orders using our business management system (Bistrak).
Communicating order, stock and delivery information to customers by telephone and email.
Supporting the sales team with customer enquiries and day-to-day administration.
Maintaining accurate records with a high level of attention to detail.

As your experience develops, you will progress to:

Preparing quotations for enquiries, projects and customer requirements.
Developing technical knowledge across our timber and timber-based product range.
Building strong relationships with customers and understanding their business needs.
Solving customer challenges and providing practical commercial solutions.
Managing your own customer accounts and sales opportunities.
Supporting business development and identifying opportunities for growth.

About You

We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and the ambition to build a long-term career in sales.

You will ideally have:

A strong work ethic and a genuine desire to learn.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Good computer literacy and confidence using business software.
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
The ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively in a busy environment.
A proactive approach and a willingness to take responsibility.
The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.

Previous sales or timber industry experience is not essential, as full training will be provided.
