We are looking for a Part-Time Deputy Nursery Manager to join the family at Buckfastleigh...

Are you an experienced Room Lead or Deputy Nursery Manager looking to develop your leadership skills within a supportive, family-focused nursery?

Our beautiful nursery in Buckfastleigh is looking for a warm, enthusiastic and motivated Deputy Nursery Manager to join our leadership team and help create a nurturing environment where every child is cared for as if they were one of our own.

About the Role

This is a part-time position working 24-30 hours per week, with fixed working days of Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, supporting the Nursery Manager with the day-to-day running of the nursery while continuing to inspire children through outstanding practice.

As Deputy Nursery Manager, you will play a key role in both the leadership of the nursery and the day-to-day care of the children. You will have your own key group of children, building strong relationships with them and their families, while helping to lead our Over 2's Room, ensuring it provides an engaging, nurturing and inspiring environment where every child can thrive.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the Nursery Manager in leading and motivating a positive, high-performing staff team.
Helping to lead the Over 2's Room, modelling outstanding practice and supporting colleagues to deliver high-quality care and education.
Acting as a Key Person for your own group of children, building strong partnerships with families and supporting each child's individual learning and development.
Leading by example, delivering exceptional care and learning experiences every day.
Supporting the day-to-day organisation and smooth running of the nursery.
Helping to maintain high standards of care, safeguarding and compliance with the EYFS.
Mentoring and supporting practitioners in their professional development.
Encouraging creativity, curiosity and child-led learning throughout the nursery.
Promoting the Nanny Bears ethos by creating a calm, welcoming and home-from-home environment.

What We're Looking ForEssential

Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (minimum).
Previous experience as a Deputy Manager, Room Lead or in a similar leadership role.
Sound knowledge of child development and the EYFS Framework.
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience supporting and motivating a team.
Positive, enthusiastic and child-centred approach.
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to use initiative and inspire creative, engaging learning experiences.
A genuine passion for providing exceptional care and education.
