Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Garden Centre Buyer to join our team! In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing a diverse range of gardening products, plants, tools, and outdoor living items to ensure our garden centre remains vibrant, well-stocked, and aligned with customer demand. Your expertise will drive the selection process, negotiate with suppliers, and optimize inventory levels to maximize sales and profitability. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive professional passionate about horticulture, merchandising, and supply chain management to make a tangible impact in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute purchasing strategies for garden centre merchandise, ensuring alignment with seasonal trends and customer preferences.
Build strong relationships with suppliers through effective negotiation to secure favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
Manage procurement processes
Coordinate logistics and supply chain activities to ensure timely stock replenishment while minimizing excess inventory.
Analyze sales data and market trends to forecast demand accurately and adjust purchasing plans accordingly.
Monitor supplier performance regularly and resolve any issues related to delivery delays or product quality promptly.

Qualifications

Proven experience in buying or merchandising within a retail or garden centre environment is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of ERP systems
Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure advantageous terms from suppliers.
Familiarity with logistics, supply chain operations, and inventory control best practices.
Experience working with merchandising strategies tailored to seasonal cycles and outdoor products.
Ability to analyze data effectively using tools like Excel or other analytics platforms to inform purchasing decisions.
Strong communication skills coupled with a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential for success in this role.
