About the role

This role is based in the Radcliffe Department of Medicine and the role reports to Prof. James Chalmers (Rhodes Professor of Experimental Therapeutics and Clinical Pharmacology)

Prof. James Chalmers at the University of Oxford specialises in translational and clinical research on respiratory diseases, including bronchiectasis, COPD and pneumonia, with a focus on microbiology, immunology, disease mechanisms and therapeutic strategies.

The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with Prof. James Chalmers and their clinical and research team to provide a broad range of essential administrative support. This role requires a proactive and flexible approach, with responsibility for coordinating meetings, travel arrangements, completing administrative tasks and documents, managing deadlines, and managing a complex schedule involving key internal and external collaborators.

The post holder will act as the primary point of contact for Prof. James Chalmers, managing diary commitments and ensuring efficient communication and coordination across multiple stakeholders. They will support the preparation and coordination of documents for the Principal Investigator and group members, including grant applications, manuscript submissions, reports, presentations and correspondence. The role also includes organising meetings, events and collaborative activities, supporting basic financial administration (e.g. expenses and budget tracking), and contributing to core group operations such as procurement and ordering of clinical supplies. The post holder may also assist with administration of the EMBARC European Bronchiectasis Registry and liaise with participating sites as required.

This post is full-time and fixed term for 2 years

Experience of providing a high standard of administrative support.

Demonstrated experience of working within processes and procedures and aptitude for implementing improvements.

Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint

Flexible approach to working

Proactive and persistent approach to task management, with the ability to monitor progress and follow up on outstanding actions in a timely and professional manner

Proven ability to build positive working relationships and contribute effectively to a team environment
