Full job description

Role Overview

We are looking for a reliable and safety-focused Process Operator to join our production team. In this shift based, hands-on role you will help manufacture high-quality materials by operating machinery, handling materials and following established processes to meet production, quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operate machinery, mobile plant and material handling equipment
Complete processes according to both standard operating procedures, safe working procedures and quality standards
o Confirm the correct feedstock, batch and processing instruction.
o Carry out pre use checks on the mill, guarding, extraction and associated equipment.
o Load and operate the Allis Mills using the approved operating parameters.
o Monitor material flow, equipment condition, noise, vibration and dust extraction.
o Inspect screens, discharge points and product contact areas.
o Collect samples and complete particle size mesh tests or other quality checks.
o Record feed quantity, output, fines, remains and downtime.
o Clean the mill between dissimilar materials to prevent cross contamination.
o Identify and report blockages, abnormal operation and equipment defects.
o Maintain batch identification and product traceability.
Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Complete and maintain all necessary documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Carry out manual handling tasks where appropriate
Immediately report unsafe acts/conditions to Management
Ensure that the machinery is functioning correctly, efficiently and safely
Low level maintenance routines and report breakdowns to Maintenance Department
Maintain workplace to a good housekeeping standard
Who We’re Looking For
GCSE Maths and English (Grade C or above) or equivalent
Experience in heavy/medium manufacturing environment
Ability to follow work instructions and independently work to safe working procedures
Fork Lift Truck Licence (desirable)
Operation and control of rotating and vibratory ball mills (desirable)
Knowledge of milling, screening and particle size control processes (desirable)
Awareness of combustible dust hazards and extraction requirements (desirable).

Working Pattern

This is a full time role (Monday – Friday) working 12 hour shifts rotating between:

Week 1: Days/Nights (06.00 - 18.00, Monday – Tuesday and 18.00 – 06.00, Thursday – Friday),
Week 2: Days (06.00 – 18.00, Wednesday – Friday)
Week 3: Nights (18.00 – 06.00, Monday – Wednesday)
