Dance Specialist – North Lincolnshire (Salaried, September Start)

Join First Step Physical Education as a Dance Specialist, delivering inspiring, structured dance sessions to primary school pupils on a salaried basis across Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire from September 2026.

The Company

First Step Physical Education, part of the First Step Sports Group, specialises in the planning, organisation, delivery and assessment of Primary School PE, delivering quality PE and sports offerings to schools across Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. We are passionate about delivering high-quality physical education and professionalism, and achieving our vision of becoming the region's largest, most respected Physical Education provider.

The Position

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Dance Specialist to work with our partner primary schools, delivering high-quality dance sessions that build pupils' coordination, confidence and love of performing arts. You will plan and deliver a range of dance styles and themed lessons, teaching the same groups each term so you can track progress and build strong relationships with pupils.

Responsibilities:

Deliver dance lessons and a variety of sports to primary school aged pupils
Plan and adapt schemes of work across a range of dance styles
Assess and record pupil progress each term
Be assertive, engaging and respected by pupils
Demonstrate professionalism when working with school staff and parents
Travel to various school sites across Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire areas

Knowledge and Experience Requirements:

A dance teaching qualification or equivalent
Minimum one year's teaching/coaching experience
Experience creating and following lesson plans
An interest in delivering other areas of the PE curriculum (Gymnastics, Games, OAA, Athletics)
GCSE Maths and English
First Aid and Child Protection training (training can be provided)
Full UK driving licence and access to your own transport, as travel between sites is required

The recruitment process consists of three stages: a telephone interview, a practical assessment, and a face-to-face interview.
