We are looking for a passionate Health & Science Lecturer to join our Early Years, Education & Social Care Team.
The successful applicant will help to transform the lives of our students by teaching across our Health & Science qualifications, predominantly at Level 3 and to lead and develop our T-Level provision.
This is a part-time role, working 17.5 hours per week.
Responsibilities include:
- To teach courses specified by the Departmental Leadership Team.
- To assess the work and progress of all students and provide them with constructive and timely feedback.
- To seek ways of improving student performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery, and obtaining and analysing feedback.
- To develop and apply innovative approaches to improving the learning environment, teaching and/or assessment and feedback methods
- Engage in professional development concerning teaching, learning and assessment, including the use of an evidence-informed approach, which utilises the outcomes of scholarship to enhance teaching practice.
- To participate actively in curriculum development, and, where appropriate, in cross-college marketing activities.
- To participate actively in the enrolment, induction, monitoring, profiling and initial assessment of students or trainees.
- To devise individual learning plans and provide support for learners in line with the requirements of the course.
- To be responsible to the Head of Department for student discipline, counselling and guidance for all assigned classes.
- To be responsible for the supervision and management of students on placements, off-site visits and activities where appropriate.
- To maintain records of formative and summative assessments of students' learning, and to report accurately on the progress of both individuals and groups.
- To proactively contribute to the success and vision of the department
- To undertake programme leadership duties as specified by your line manager or the Head of Department

Education & Training
- Level 5 Qualification or subject specialism in Health & Science or relevant area
- A relevant teaching qualification or willingness to work towards this qualification.
- GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths, or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability, and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale
- GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English, or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability, and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale
Experience
- Academic or industrial or commercial experience in an area relevant to the programme.
- Experience in Good teaching/training.
- Experience of student pastoral care and disciplinary procedures
- Experience of course leadership responsibilities.
