Full job description

Job Summary

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Treatment Room Nurse, where your expertise will directly impact patient care and well-being. In this vital role, you will deliver high-quality nursing services within the treatment environment, ensuring patients receive compassionate, efficient, and personalized care. Your leadership skills will help coordinate treatment activities, support care plans, and foster a positive experience for every patient. This position offers an exciting opportunity to utilize your nursing knowledge in a fast-paced, supportive setting dedicated to excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the Treatment Room Nurse in delivering health services:

a. Support the Infection Prevention Control (IPC) lead and work to the IPC Policy

b. Consult with patients and their families to undertake assessments of patient need

c. Support and signpost patients to public health and screening programmes, including immunisations, vaccinations, and cervical screening and arrange appointments with clinical team as required.

d. Embed population health management approaches within general practice, targeting health inequalities and improving access

e. As required, provide routine nursing care to patients in accordance with clinical based evidence, NICE and the NSF

f. Support trainee nursing staff, Healthcare Assistants and Phlebotomists in their roles as required

g. Work within national and local protocols where these exist

h. Recognise the boundaries of their practice and know when and to whom patients should be referred

i. Support in the delivery of enhanced services and other service requirements including addition of SNOMED codes to facilitate claims

j. Be aware of duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation and adhere to practice policies and procedures on Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children

k. If necessary, participate in the management of patient complaints when requested to do so and participate in the identification of any necessary learning brought about through incidents and near-miss events

l. Undertake all mandatory training and induction programmes

m. Contribute to and embrace the spectrum of clinical governance

n. Attend a formal appraisal with their manager at least every 12 months. Once a performance/training objective has been set, progress will be reviewed on a regular basis so that new objectives can be agreed

o. Provide wound care to patients

p. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with extant legislation ensuring that SNOMED CT codes are used effectively

q. Contribute to practice targets (QOF, etc.), complying with relevant guidance

r. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

s. Chaperone patients where necessary

t. Support the team in dealing with clinical emergencies if needed

u. Liaise with external services/agencies to ensure the patient is supported appropriately (vulnerable patients, etc.)

There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks, this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels

Experience

Proven experience as a registered nurse with a strong background in clinical care settings.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare colleagues.
Strong time management abilities to handle multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
Knowledge of relevant healthcare regulations and safety standards applicable to treatment environments.
