Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable General Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team. This role involves assisting with meal and food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food service, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to food safety standards. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience within a professional kitchen environment.

Duties

Assist in meal preparation and food presentation under the supervision of the head chef or kitchen manager
Support catering activities for events and functions
Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and organising supplies
Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, utensils, and kitchen equipment in accordance with hygiene standards
Help with serving food to customers or guests as required
Restock supplies and ensure all ingredients are stored correctly and safely
Follow food safety protocols at all times to prevent contamination or spoilage
Assist with general cleaning duties within the kitchen area to uphold health and safety regulations

Skills

Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is desirable but not essential
Basic knowledge of meal preparation and food safety procedures
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining attention to detail
Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Strong team player with excellent communication skills
Willingness to learn new culinary techniques and adapt to different kitchen routines
Experience in serving or customer-facing roles is advantageous but not mandatory
