Quality Director – QAS50046
Location : Hinkley Point C
Contract Type: Permanent
Start Sate: TBC
Salary: Competitive Salary +benefits
Role Details :
The Quality Director will lead the development and execution of the MEH Alliance Quality Strategy to ensure that the programme delivers the required quality standards, documentation and assurance records in full compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
The role will ensure that quality is embedded into how the Alliance plans, executes and records its work, enabling the programme to demonstrate that the Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC scope has been installed and verified in accordance with nuclear safety and regulatory expectations.
A critical priority for the role is to address one of the most significant programme risks: the timely creation, validation and acceptance of quality records.
The Quality Director will establish the systems, governance, behaviours and culture required to ensure that quality documentation is produced, right first time, at the point of installation, rather than retrospectively.
The role will also lead the development of a strong and consistent quality culture across the Alliance, aligning partner organisations behind a shared approach to quality delivery and assurance.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for integrating quality across multiple partners, disciplines and delivery teams in one of the largest and most complex nuclear construction programmes in Europe.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Strategy and Programme Integration
Develop and implement the MEH Alliance Quality Strategy, ensuring it supports the successful delivery of the programme and aligns with HPC quality and regulatory expectations. Ensure that quality is fully integrated:
- Construction planning
- Installation processes
- Verification and inspection regimes
- Handover and completion process
Provide strategic leadership to ensure the Alliance delivers the required quality records in accordance with the contract and regulatory framework
Delivery of Quality Records
Lead the programme wide approach to the production, validation and acceptance of quality records, ensuring that documentation is:
- Complete
- Accurate
- Traceable
- Delivered on time
- Roll out and embed digital tools across the MEH programme to optimise capture and production of quality records.
- Establish processes and controls that ensure records are generated during installation not retrospectively.
- Work with construction, engineering, handover and commissioning teams to embed quality record production into normal working practices.
- Ensure the Alliance is able to demonstrate clear configuration control and traceability for all installed components and systems.
Alliance Integration
Create a single coherent quality approach across all Alliance partners, removing fragmentation between partner systems and processes. Ensure that:
- Quality expectations are clear and consistent
- Roles and responsibilities are understood
- Quality processes are standardised wherever possible
Build strong working relationships with partner organisations to ensure alignment and accountability
Act as the senior interface between the MEH Alliance and the wider HPC quality organisation.
Quality Culture and Behaviour
Drive the development of a strong quality culture across the Alliance, where quality is understood as a fundamental part of safe and effective delivery. Promote a culture where:
- Quality is owned by delivery teams
- Issues are surfaced early
- Learning and continuous improvement are encouraged
Work closely with leadership teams to ensure the quality expectations are reinforced though behaviours, leadership messaging and operational practices.
Governance and Assurance
Establish clear governance arrangements to ensure quality performance is:
- Monitored
- Reported
- Acted upon
Develop meaningful performance metrics that allow leadership teams to understand:
- Quality record production progress
- Emerging risks
- Areas requiring intervention
Provide regular assurance updated to the MEH leadership team and the wider HPC programme
Capability and Organisation
- Assess the capability of the existing Quality organisation and implement any changes required to ensure it is fit for purpose for the next phase of the programme.
- Ensure the programme has the right skills, structure and leadership capability within the quality function.
- Develop the capability of the quality community across the Alliance
Leadership responsibilities
As a member of the senior leadership team within the MEH Alliance, the Quality Director will:
- Provide visible leadership across the programme
- Influence senior stakeholders across multiple organisations
- Support the development of a high performing alliance culture
